Noisepop and Indie Night School

Noisepop comes again to San Francisco. Music for America has asked me to be on a panel this Sunday called Indie Night School. It's about building a brand out of your band. While I am not so into using such corporate lingo in regards to bands, any discussion of how musicians can eek a living out of this brutal business is better than no discussion.

The Makeout Room in San Francisco, 1-6 pm.
The panel I am part of is scheduled from 3-5 pm.

March 30 at the Makeout Room

Ray's Vast Basement has invited me to play with them at the Makeout Room on March 30. I met them through Michael Zapruder, who they share a studio with. I have recorded with both bands, who will be releasing new albums this year. This also be the first time my new bass will make a public appearance.

also, this just out. Fran Crumpton is my new president.

Musical Instrument Insurance

The latest in gear theft. Film School's van gets nicked.

Musicians, I beg you. Insure your gear. For the love of god. Here's a good company I have used for insurance since the first time all of my band's gear was stolen in 1994. Music Pro Insurance It's cheap, really.

And while you're at it, sign up for health insurance on the same site. The catastrophic kind is $50-70/month, and it's better than begging your friends to do a benefit after you break your leg.
